A sale and rent agreement may work in many circumstances. It may come in useful if you are going through a divorce and one partner wishes to remain in the home while selling to split proceeds. You could sell this way for peace of mind if emigrating and wanting to rent until your departure date and you could use this solution if you are being faced with repossession due to mortgage arrears.

I could make a home sale and get cash for my home which would allow me to clear the mortgage arrears and the mortgage. I could then choose to rent back my house, however I would need to consider that I may not get the full value of my home and the rental period may be fixed at 5 years.

A scheme such as this may be an ideal solution providing I understood the terms and had looked at all other options, as it would mean that I would not have to leave the property and all the memories in it through eviction.

I could apply online with an ethical company who followed the FSA guidelines for sale and rent back agreements and they would give me a verbal quote as to how much my home might be worth. I would then have to check over the small print carefully before choosing this as an option.
